What we collect, why, and how to control it.

PYS (operated at popdatish.com — "we", "us", "PYS") is a social platform where you post, comment, react, message, go live, and discover stories from media partners. This page explains the personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and human-readable; the formal sections below are where the legal language lives.

1. Who we are (data controller)

PYS is owned and operated by an individual proprietor at popdatish.com. For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@popdatish.com.

2. What we collect

Account data from Google when you sign in: email, name, profile picture, Google ID. We do not see, store, or receive your Google password.
Content you create: posts, comments, reactions, uploaded photos/videos/audio, live broadcasts, direct messages, and the metadata around them (timestamps, tags, hashtags, mentions).
Social graph: who you follow, who follows you, blocked / muted users, bookmarks, drafts.
Device & usage data: IP address, user-agent, approximate location derived from your IP, the pages you visit within PYS, and basic interaction events (likes, scroll depth, session length) used to rank your feed and improve the product.
Cookies & local storage: a session token to keep you logged in, lightweight preferences (your last-viewed tab, your "install banner" dismiss timestamp), and — where applicable — third-party advertising cookies (see Cookies & Ads below).
Push notifications (optional): when you opt in, your browser's push endpoint and public key, used solely to send you notifications you've requested.

3. Why we collect it (legal basis under GDPR)

To operate PYS (deliver posts, route DMs, host live rooms) — contract performance.
To rank the feed, fight spam, and keep the platform safe — legitimate interest.
To send push notifications — your consent, which you can revoke any time in your browser settings.
To serve ads (if and when we show them) — consent in regions that require it, otherwise legitimate interest for non-personalised ads.
To comply with the law (responding to lawful requests from authorities) — legal obligation.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with the following service providers strictly to run PYS:

Google — sign-in (OAuth) and, where enabled, advertising (AdSense). Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
MongoDB Atlas — encrypted hosted database where your account and content live.
Agora.io — real-time audio/video transport when you host or watch a live room. Media is end-to-end transient and is not retained by Agora outside the live session unless a recording is enabled (we do not enable recording).
Emergent — the application hosting infrastructure that runs popdatish.com.
Web Push (browser vendor) — Apple, Google or Mozilla, depending on the device you've granted push permission to. We send them only the notification payload, never your full content history.
Law enforcement — only when compelled by a valid legal request.

5. Cookies, analytics & advertising

We use a small number of first-party cookies and localStorage entries that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and remember UI preferences (e.g., the muted state of a live room, the last tab you viewed).

When advertising is enabled, our advertising partner — Google AdSense — may place cookies on your device. Those cookies are used by Google to serve ads based on your prior visits to popdatish.com and other websites. Google uses these for measurement, fraud detection and (where you've consented) personalised advertising.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings page: adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies via the Digital Advertising Alliance or, in the EU, via Your Online Choices.

We do not currently use third-party analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics). If we add one, we'll update this page and surface the change in-app.

6. How long we keep your data

Posts, comments, DMs, media: until you delete them or close your account.
Stories: auto-deleted after 24 hours.
Live broadcasts: deleted shortly after the broadcast ends. Live reactions are auto-purged after 1 hour.
Server logs: ≤ 30 days for routine logs; longer only when required for security investigations.
Closed-account residual data: removed within 30 days of account deletion, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and associated data
Export a copy of your content (data portability)
Object to or restrict certain processing
Californians (CCPA): request that we do not sell or share your personal information. We do not sell personal information, but you can confirm this and request access at the email below.
Withdraw consent for push notifications via your browser at any time.

Email privacy@popdatish.com from the address associated with your account and we'll respond within 30 days.

8. Children

PYS is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us data, contact privacy@popdatish.com and we will delete it.

9. Security

PYS runs over HTTPS. Database connections are TLS-encrypted, and session tokens are issued via Google's OAuth (we don't handle passwords). No system is perfectly secure; if we ever detect a breach that affects your data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

10. International data transfers

Our infrastructure (MongoDB Atlas, Emergent, Agora) may store and process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EEA/UK, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page and, where appropriate, via an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
